Welcome {direct link}

This site provides a hint of information about myself and what I can offer. I am currently based by London but regularly travel throughout the UK thanks to the London Connections, however the companies are based in my home counties of Suffolk & Norfolk in the Eastern Region.

I work as a freelance facilitator / trainer predominantly in engagement and participatory projects, delivering training on policy embedment, consultation methods / market research, and strategic development of policy/plans. This is the focus of the website, if you are more interested in my work within technical theatre or web development visit their pages under 'my work' and see the respective websites. I am a director of CEG Theatre & Entertainment Services Ltd - a rapidly expanding business providing a large range of entertainment services, and Director of MDK Web & Media Ltd - An agency providing marketing services to the public and private sector.

As a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management I subscribe to the highest levels of conduct in management and the dissemination of information. Feel free to have a look around. If there's something you can't find you can try looking at the old website which is still online, and provides access to the artsaward micro-site and review weblog I used to maintain. If you are interested in any of my services or are from the media and would like quotes, statements and such forth please feel free to contact me.

Youth Advocacy {direct link}

BSE Youth Council

This has been the most major part of my life over the last 5 years. Having started simply as a connexions 'champion' within the school based office, reaching by now Commitees & Board level of national projects and even representing England in an Enquiry into civil society.

My range of experience has led me to have the wealth of knowledge I possess and the skills to disseminate this - making an invaluable resource for both the theory of engagement structures and projects and the the practical knowledge maintained to apply this. Through facilitating sessions exploring the issues faced I have built even further knowledge of what works, what doesn't, the challenges faced and ideas for over coming them. However more about this can be found on the facilitation page.

I am aiming to post regular updates to this page as i seem to store a lot up. Likewise I'm not going to get in to details, so feel free to contact me about anything i mention if you want to know more.

Some Success and to the future (May 2010)

Well I write this again sitting on a train, speeding to Leeds. I’m off to deliver another day of training on engagement through creative methods. Ironically it would be my first trip north with a full license having passed my driving test at the end of April, a long time coming. Although I have invested in a great sat nav and have an awesome new car, A 2010 Island Blue 1.4 Diesel Yaris TR, the maps actually suggested that the train was quicker! I also received another strong first class for a management report into Human Resource Management and Social Media. One thing I forgot to mention in the last post is a new page i would encourage people to look at; My Philosophies.

A great success in April was the reaching of the national finals, i.e. top 25 in the country, of the Enterprise UK Enterprising Young Brit Awards. It is a testament to the team at CEG Productions of whom I am very proud of, we continue to excel and delight customers growing day by day. I’m also looking forward to working with YPIA to build a new website and management information system.

An interesting fact recently uncovered is that upon joining the ILM I was 25 years younger than the average person at my grade.

March 2010-

The last 6 months (March 2010)

Wow what a time it has been. Actually lets widen this out to the last 9 months or so. In June last year I moved to Epsom to take up a contract with Toyota GB PLC which began in August - giving me the time to work on an awesome show called Epiphany with Theatre IS... and explore Yorkshire a bit. My start with Toyota was interesting yet brief as i then whisked back to Nottingham at the Centre for Management Development to study intensively the Business Environment - International Marketing mainly and got introduced to some food for thought. Back to start in September with Toyota i settled in to a very small yet vibrant team to experience client side Digital Marketing and created the foundations of many of my degree assignments to come.

Roll on to January 2010 after having delivered various training and consultancy sessions, research training and hearing of my appointment as a full Member to the Institute of Leadership and Management in the tail end of 2009. In January I delivered a presentation to the British Council Strategic Leaders Programme on creative and socially responsible enterprise and this provided such an insight for me too with the reaction and engagement of all the international delegates. I continued to work with a great colleague to redevelop a creative methods training day that i more recently piloted with the London Borough of Merton (for Participation Works).

March Part 2

In February I again went back for some intense study, this time covering Business Resource Management (HR, Project Management & Accounting mainly) again giving an exceptional insight to the academic world of business. Applying all this back has seen CEG producing some very quality work, to which i owe the team many thanks, and has seen us surpassing year on year growth targets which shows no sign of slowing just yet (touch wood).

With MDK I have started to help Converxion Ltd in their set up and produce a new Its Our Theatre website among other things and am enjoying this creative outlet. In this time I have also joined the NAYT Associate Staff Team and have been meeting with the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills as a member of the Information, Advice and Guidance group alongside the big industry players and associations.

Whilst writing this I am enroute home from the first national Young Enterprise Alumni conference, as one of the 14 people selected and am really looking forward to forging a greater working relationship with this inspiring educational charity. And i hope to bring news next month (with much less sparity and mash of information) of success with the RSA and having heard yesterday that I am a national finalist in the EnterpriseUK Enterprising Young Brit awards.

Live life to the full and help who you can {direct link}

I have created enterprise out of community need, i have lived by the triple bottom line and know that to create sustainability revenue & profit must be generated. You should have fun doing the work you do and maximising wealth and experiences that can be shared with and utilised to the advantage of others.

Seek Opportunities, Create Opportunities, Make the most of opportunities

Life is what you make of it. If you want to do something then seek the opportunity that enables your development in to this area. If it doesn't exist, or isn't accessible then create the opportunity yourself- possibly with the help of friends or others. Then make the most of the opportunities, make them sustainable or scaleable, exploit it for the benefit of yourself and the community.

Life is a stage...

Much of life is an act, very few people know the real me and my true views and likes, it is important to be true to yourself and keep to your principles but never be ashamed to highlight your strengths in the appropriate situations. No production is made by one person. Working as a team and utilising the skills and experiences of those around you develops all those involved.
